This didn’t really feel right. Pit lane is dodgy, the corners are all over the place, and... I can’t put my finger on it, I just don’t feel it. Like, it’s meh. It looks boring, I mean unless you build it at the Sierra Nevada or Oregon or Washington state and the elevation morphs each corner into something.
Right, then, find me a bit of Oregon or Washington with no NIMBY-types for a 60 mile radius and isn’t a place where environmentalists will stone me, m’mkay?

I’m not sure if you’ve seen a topographical map of West Virginia or not. But if you were to lay this anywhere in that state it would be pretty interesting.

The issue with pit entry is that cars will be slowing on the racing line before that last turn. Potential safety issue with T5 pointing at the pit lane meaning you’ll have a wall and no runoff in a high speed corner.

Anyone who would complain?

Guess that straight is long enough for a bare-bones entry on the main straight after all.

Tell them it’s a coal mine and they’ll get behind it.

Much like Donington. Mentally roll this photo over.
I can’t find a map rolled over 180 to match your orientation. The pit straight would be the highest point in the park, it would sweep down from turn one and back up then start heading back up in turn 9.
OR!
Pit straight it the lowest part of the track the bulk of the grandstands would be between turns 4 and 5 so fans could see the corners, but also look down into the pits and another big set of grandstands in a big arc between 8 and 9 so fans could see 9 corners from one vantage.

Not if it brings in jobs, which it will. And it won’t be any louder than their trucks.

Along this line of thinking, check out Summit Point Raceway. It’s in WV and about ~2 hours from Washington DC.

I’ve raced bikes on Shenny and did a driving class on Jefferson. Anywhere along that I-81 corridor in VA/WV would be a good spot because it’s pretty hilly and it’s also close to DC, Richmond, etc. and a reasonable drive from NC, so you could attract a pretty large racing community.

Looks like I’m all set, though wouldn’t it be strange to have two tracks within just 3 hours of each other?
OK, actually, I can see it now: two 12-hour races, with the trip between the two tracks also part of the race.

Genius! If you did a low buck, LeMons style variant of that I’d be in.
There are also other tracks in the area but Summit is probably the biggest, most well known. VIR isn’t too far away, and PIRC is about 4 hours north.
